Our friends over at the North Carolina Blogger Network have officially launched!! AWESOME!!

The NC Blogger Network was founded in the summer of 2014 by Nikol Murphy and Allison Carter.

After attending multiple blogger events and engaging in many NC-based blogger forums, they realized that there were so many wonderful blog-related opportunities in the state that others should know about.  The Tar Heel state houses some amazing, brilliant, ground-breaking bloggers.

They embarked on a mission to unite and share all the phenomenal happenings around the state.

The NC Blogger Network hosts events around the state (be sure to find your region of the NC Blogger Network or join then at a happening down the road), they feature blog and state-travel related tips (submit your tip to them to be featured), they offer resources and education on blogging and social media to members (become a member today for a low annual fee), and they host the popular #Blogging411 show.

There is something there for everyone, for every type of blogger, and they look forward to helping you be the best blogger you can be!

One of the Nation’s Fastest Growing Workout Concepts Expands to Chapel Hill

Featured in The New York Times, SELF Magazine and Men’s Journal, Orangetheory Fitness uses heart-rate-monitored high-intensity interval training to maximize calorie burn up to 1,000 calories from one 60-minute class

Orangetheory Fitness is an energizing group interval fitness concept that’s sweeping the nation. The unique fitness program is expanding in North Carolina with a new studio in Chapel Hill opening fall 2014. The studio will be housed in the quaint and convenient Meadowmont Village shopping center, where a pre-sale location is open now to introduce people to the Orangetheory Fitness concept and, most importantly, let members secure their memberships and packages at reduced founders’ rates available only before the studio opens.

Orangetheory Fitness was introduced to North Carolina in January 2014 at its Morrisville studio location in Park West Village shopping center. The new Chapel Hill studio is the second of several Orangetheory Fitness locations planned to open in the Triangle area across the next year.

“We can’t wait to open our doors to the Chapel Hill community and help people get toned, lose inches, gain energy and reach their fitness goals,” said Kristie Shifflette, local franchise owner of Orangetheory Fitness. “The success of our program is clear when you see current members and hear about their experiences.”

During each hour-long class, Orangetheory Fitness participants wear heart-rate-monitors as they go through interval training and short bursts of exercise designed to maximize the Orange Effect, which adds extra caloric burn for up to 36 hours after the workout. Participants burn 500 to 1,000 calories per 60-minute class – one of the many reasons Orangetheory Fitness is featured in several national publications as a highly effective new workout.

To learn more about the plateau-busting workouts, community members can stop by the pre-sale location at 606 Meadowmont Village Circle, Chapel Hill, NC 27517 or call (919) 883-9424. Additionally, everyone is invited to participate in a Facebook giveaway for the chance to win a one month Premier Membership valid for unlimited classes at the Chapel Hill studio. Fans can participate now by entering the sweepstakes on the Orangetheory Fitness Chapel Hill Facebook page. One participant will be selected at random from all entries submitted by Aug. 15.

Orangetheory Fitness memberships do not require a long-term commitment and can currently be purchased at limited discounted founders’ rates for new members at the Chapel Hill studio.

About Orangetheory Fitness
Orangetheory Fitness is a one-of-a-kind group personal training workout broken into intervals of cardiovascular and strength training. Backed by the science of excess post-exercise oxygen consumption, Orangetheory Fitness’ heart-rate-monitored training is designed to keep heart rates in a target zone that stimulates metabolism and increases energy. Led by skilled instructors, participants use a variety of equipment including treadmills, rowing machines, SBT Suspension Training and free weights, burning up to 1,000 calories per class. The result is the Orange Effect – more energy, visible toning and extra calorie burn for up to 36 hours post-workout.

The Not So Normal 5K + Weekend: Carrboro and Chapel Hill Family-Friendly Festivities

The Not So Normal 5K + Weekend, a three-day celebration of community and philanthropy, kicks off Sept. 12 and introduces a family-friendly lineup of activities in Carrboro and Chapel Hill, all culminating with a festive 5K race and outdoor country music concert Sunday, Sept. 14. From date nights for parents to babysitting options and pajama parties for the kids, there will be a variety of events for the community to enjoy all while helping raise money for deserving charities. The best part, unlike other races, 100 percent of proceeds from all 5K registration fees goes directly to nonprofits. Learn more about each event and the nonprofit beneficiaries.

Family-friendly events include:

·           Friday and Saturday Night (Sept. 12 and 13): Kids’ parties each night, babysitting options, restaurant specials, comedy shows, outdoor movie and a Carrboro Art Walk, “Meet the Merchants.”

·   Sunday Morning (Sept. 14):

o   The Not So Normal 5K race…well, not quite 5K. We shortened to 2.95 miles to make it flatter and a little easier. Why? Because it’s not so normal! Active families will run or walk this fun run, and strollers are welcome on the course. Registration is just $25 and all proceeds go directly to charity. Participants are also asked to bring one book for Book Harvest and/or two canned goods for local food distribution organizations, TABLE and PORCH.

o   Kids’ races, obstacles, face painting and tons of family-fun activities. Children 8 and under are free!

·  Sunday Night (Sept. 14): Frankie Ballard Live Presented by 94.7 QDR and The Not So Normal 5K + Weekend. Hosted at University Mall in Chapel Hill, the outdoor concert will feature rising country music star Frankie Ballard, and opening acts Casey Jamerson, Stereosparks and The BuzzTown Band, and DSI Comedy Theater getting the crowd ready to rock. The concert benefits The ArtsCenterNC Children’s Promise and Kidzu Children’s Museum. Tickets are $9.47 and can be purchased online here.

The Not So Normal 5K + Weekend, presented by Mom in Chapel Hill, celebrates community and with a little music and exercise thrown in! Concepted and brought to life by founder and stay-at-home dad Jay Radford, the inaugural events benefit local nonprofits. It’s anything but average! A full weekend of fundraising for local nonprofits, enjoying time in your community and great 5k… Learn more by visiting, www.notsonormal5k.com.

If you’d like to enter to win two tickets to the Frankie Ballard concert, Follow triFABB on Facebook and leave a comment on this post with your name and why you want to attend the concert! A winner will be emailed and chosen Friday, September 5th!

triFABB KICKED BUTT at Orangetheory Fitness!

trifabborangetheory

Just wanted to share a little recap of our rather unconventional meetup at Orangetheory Fitness Morrisville today!

This was the first time we’d every done a meetup like this and it was so much fun. The photo above is just some of the members of triFABB who came to the meetup and workout!

If you haven’t heard of Orangetheory Fitness, it’s basically (in summary) a REALLY intense workout that mixes up cardio and strength training but really focuses on customizing the workout to YOUR particular skill level based on your heart rate. You wear a heart rate monitor throughout the workout and you’re able to see on a screen in the room what “zone” you’re in… whether you’re in the cardio zone, the fat burning zone, or the peak zone, etc.

We all agreed it was one of THE most fun, MOST intense, and most challenging workouts we’d ever done.

Lindsay of Poppy Daily even said, “I work out with a trainer 2-3x a week and have for a while and this was, by far, the best workout I’ve ever done.”

We could not agree more!! It was CRAZY hard and we were all totally SPENT by the time it was over, but we felt awesome.

Our trainer, Danny, had so much energy and really kept us going and motivated through the whole thing.

On a separate side note, members of #triFABB even brought canned foods to the event to help collect canned food for the Foodbank of the Triangle!

It was really an awesome afternoon!

If you’re in the Triangle and looking to really get an intense workout, you should totally check out Orangetheory fitness and tell them triFABB sent you!!
