Apricot Lane Opens New Durham Store with July 13 Fashion Show, Giveaways and 15 Percent of all Sales Donated to Charity

Affordable Women’s Fashion Boutique Opens in The Streets at Southpoint partnering with Durham nonprofit Transforming Hope, the TriFABB blogger group, and Models for Charity

Durham, N.C. – July 1, 2013 – Apricot Lane, a popular boutique featuring celebrity-inspired affordable fashions for the everyday woman, will host a celebration for the grand opening of its third Triangle location at The Streets at Southpoint mall Saturday, July 13. The store will celebrate with festivities beginning at noon and a fashion show kicking off at 7:15 p.m. in conjunction with Southpoint’s summer band series outside at the mall’s main fountain near the movie theater.

Additionally, Apricot Lane is working with TriFABB, a local group of fashion beauty, and lifestyle bloggers, and Models for Charity, a nonprofit organization of professionals who raise money for Triangle charities through modeling. The partnerships aim to raise awareness and funds for Transforming Hope, a Durham-based nonprofit that works to transform the lives of human trafficking victims. Among other efforts, the organization offers safe houses to victims working through recovery.

As part of the grand opening, Apricot Lane in Southpoint will donate 15 percent of all sales on Saturday, July 13 back to Transforming Hope. It’s also asking community members to get involved through a personal goods and home products drive to collect toilet paper, shampoo, soaps, cleaning supplies, toothbrushes and similar products to stock the Transforming Hope safe house in Triangle, North Carolina – the location of which cannot be disclosed to protect its residents. Wish-list items can be found on the Transforming Hope website. People interested in helping can bring unopened items to Apricot Lane on Saturday, July 13.

“Apricot Lane has always been a huge supporter of the fight against human trafficking and we’re thrilled to be able to continue that tradition while also helping the local community here in North Carolina,” said Carol Toulas, who along with her husband George own all three Apricot Lane stores in the Triangle. “We’re so grateful that we can support Transforming Hope as well as for such great relationships with TriFABB, Models for Charity and the Raleigh-Durham community. This Southpoint grand opening celebration and fashion show is going to be such an impactful and fun event – we hope everyone can join us!”

The schedule of grand opening celebrations on Saturday, July 13 includes:

  • All day – Personal goods and home products drive at the Apricot Lane store
  • Noon to 5 p.m. – A prize wheel and other giveaways at the Apricot Lane store in Southpoint Mall, upstairs near the JCPenney entrance
  • 5 p.m. – Celebrations move outside near the mall’s main fountain in front of the AMC Southpoint 17 movie theatre
    • 5 to 8 p.m. – The prize wheel will be at a table near the stage awarding prizes to all guests throughout the evening; Transforming Hope will also have a table onsite to further introduce the local community to its mission
    • 6 p.m. – The Southpoint band series kicks off with West Street Band, one of Raleigh’s top party bands playing hit rock, R&B and funk dance songs from every decade
    • 7:15 p.m. – The Apricot Lane fashion show with models from TriFABB and Models for Charity, all showing off the summer’s hottest fashions

Apricot Lane’s Southpoint store is owned by Carol and George Toulas under the venture Alpha Astra LLC. The couple opened their first location of Apricot Lane in early November, located in Raleigh’s North Hills Shopping Center and their second store in December at the Cary Towne Center Mall. They also own two locations in the Charlotte market and are rapidly expanding the footprint throughout North Carolina.

Once opened, Apricot Lane’s Southpoint store will follow the mall’s normal hours of operation. To learn more and join in the conversation, visit www.apricotlanetrianglenc.com or www.facebook.com/ApricotLaneTriangleNC.

{FABB PR} Apricot Lane Announces North Hills Grand Opening Nov. 9 with Storewide 20 Percent Off Discount

Apricot Lane, a popular boutique featuring celebrity-inspired affordable fashion for the everyday woman, will open its doors in the North Hills Shopping Center Friday, Nov. 9. As part of Apricot Lane’s Raleigh grand opening weekend, the boutique is offering a storewide discount of 20 percent off on all purchases between Friday, Nov. 9, and Sunday, Nov. 11. Shoppers can also sign up in advance to receive a free bracelet by visiting the Apricot Lane Raleigh Facebook page.

The giveaway of free 3Strands bracelets, each an $18 value, has a deeper meaning – fighting human trafficking around the world through support of organizations such as Agape International Missions. The owners of Apricot Lane in the Triangle bought these bracelets to support the cause and are giving them to consumers to celebrate the grand opening. Local residents can receive a 3Strands bracelet by visiting the Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/ApricotLaneTriangleNC), signing up to receive the coupon and then either printing it out or showing it on a smartphone in store between Nov. 9 and Dec. 31. In addition, the local Apricot Lane owners will also donate $5 to AIM for each redeemed coupon to further help end human trafficking.

Shoppers are encouraged to redeem their free 3Strands bracelet during opening weekend when they will also receive 20 percent off on all of the store’s top-of-the-line styles, including designer labels such as Miss Me, Lucca Couture, Wooden Ships, Big Buddha, Black Sheep and Big Star. The store’s selection focuses on fun, fearless fashion at affordable prices, with new women’s clothes, handbags, jewelry, accessories and gifts arriving daily.

Brooke “Peanut Butter” Hoover from G105’s Bob and the Showgram morning show is one of the store’s biggest fans. Peanut Butter recently tried on a selection of the boutique’s clothes for a photo shoot to help promote the grand opening. Over the coming weeks and months, Peanut Butter will be seen around town in Apricot Lane fashions and showing off her new styles on the Apricot Lane Raleigh Facebook page.

“I was so excited to get a sneak peak of all the Apricot Lane clothes and try on different looks to add into my fall wardrobe,” said Peanut Butter. “Being on the radio so early in the morning, I don’t always give my clothes a lot of thought. Apricot Lane has added so much style to my wardrobe – from a motorcycle jacket and party dresses to new designer jeans – getting dressed is so much more fun!”

The North Hills location is the first of three Apricot Lane stores opening in the Triangle. A second store will open at Cary Towne Center in early December and a third store will open at the Streets at SouthPoint in Durham in early 2013. The Triangle stores are owned by Alpha Astra LLC, a venture started by husband and wife George and Carol Toulas.

About 3Strands Global:

3Strands was created to support organizations already engaged in the fight against sex trafficking. It began by partnering with Agape International Missions, www.agapewebsite.org, to open training centers in Cambodia for girls rescued from sex trafficking and restored through AIM’s proven program. Girls rescued from sex trafficking need well paying, sustainable jobs so they can reintegrate back into their community with honor and dignity. The Agape Training Center is a small jewelry and apparel production center that, instead of a typical 12-hour shift in horrible working conditions, the girls attend for eight hours a day. During that time, they receive counseling and educational services as well as lunch and medical benefits. Additionally, salaries are three to four times higher than typical garment factory pay. To learn more about Apricot Lane’s support of 3Strands bracelets, visit www.3strandsglobal.com or watch this video:http://youtu.be/GaxusqWORgE.

Featured Charity at our Launch Party!

So, one of the visions I had when I realized I wanted to move forward with starting triFABB was to get local charities involved. I think one of the things that’s so powerful about the “blog” and “social media” platforms is the ability to connect and reach people.

And with so many amazing bloggers in this area, why not use our platforms to connect and reach people for good and the benefit of our local community?

Well, I am SO excited that we are going to have a featured charity at our launch party on Thursday at Fab’rik and we’re going to be holding a small drive for them.

The charity is Transforming Hope Ministries out of Durham, North Carolina. Transforming Hope is a local non-profit that was started last year to raise money and awareness to stop human trafficking.

AND, in July of 2012, Transforming Hope opened central North Carolina’s FIRST safe home for young girls who have been rescued out of the sex trafficking industry.

How amazing is that?

It’s such a huge issue that is so often overlooked – and it’s an issue that desperately needs our attention.

So, this Thursday, if you are attending our launch party, you are encouraged, but by NO MEANS required, to bring an item for Emma’s Home – the name of the recently opened Safe Home.

Emma’s Home has a Target List of items they need that you can look through. ALSO, Emma’s home has an ongoing need of some general toiletry essentials for the girls:

  • cleaning supplies
  • tampons
  • pads
  • shaving cream & disposable razors
  • disposable cameras

Transforming Hope is an incredible organization that’s doing an amazing things by rescuing these young girls out of such a horrible industry. Thank you so much for supporting them!

You can connect with Transforming Hope on the Web, Facebook, and Twitter.

If you have questions about Transforming Hope, our launch party, or triFABB in general, please let us know!

We are SO excited for Thursday! Email us – trifabb@gmail.com to RSVP for the launch party!
