Join triFABB for END IT DAY Tomorrow!

Tomorrow is “End It Day”, when people all over the world get their red sharpies out and put a red X on their hands, take a selfie, post it on social media, and pledge to do their part to end human trafficking. It’s a good day in that it is encouraging to see SO MANY people utilizing social media together to make such a great statement. I see far too many times where social media is used to bully or vent or negatively impact someone in some way. I’m behind anyone attempting to use social media for something so positive.

Here’s the thing though….too often we get caught up in the virtual collaboration and we forget that we actually CAN do something in real life. I’ve seen the smallest act make the biggest difference. So nothing is a wasted effort when done genuinely and wholeheartedly.

If you’re not sure where to start in doing your part to end human trafficking, Transforming Hope Ministries (http://www.transforminghopeministries.org) has created a PLEDGE with a list of about 15 other ways (besides signing the pledge) to get involved and really do your part to end human trafficking. PLUS, you don’t even have to be local to do some of the things listed. Check it out the pledge here!

If you do participate in End it Day, please don’t simply let this be a day to post a selfie and move on. Do your research. Understand how prevalent human trafficking is in America, in areas where you’d least expect it to happen and to people you’d least expect it to happen to. Look a little closer at situations that may seem just not right and report them to the National Human Trafficking Hotline (888-3737-888). You can do it anonymously and if nothing was wrong, it’s okay. Better to be safe than sorry and allow exploitation to continue.

I hope you’ll join us tomorrow on social media with your red X and selfie. Be sure to use the hashtag #EndItMovement. You can also use the hashtags #TheHopeEffect, #BeTheEffect, and #TransformingHope to show your local support. More importantly, I hope you’ll join me during the rest of the year as well! If you’re participating in the red X and selfie posts, please post them in the comments below too! I’d love to see who participates!

There are TWO DAYS LEFT to get your tickets for Transforming Hope’s first annual Masquerade Ball called TRANSFORM THE NIGHT.

It’s going to be an AMAZING evening of music, dancing, great food, and learning about the vision that Transforming Hope has for saving girls in our community and beyond.

transform the night FAQs
What is the goal of the evening? What are we supporting by attending?
Transform the Night is our way of bringing awareness to the issue of human trafficking. Primarily, this event is meant to connect with you, to introduce you and your friends to Transforming Hope, and to allow us to connect with you and your passion to end human trafficking and exploitation in our community. The net profits from this event will go to support programs being developed for 2015. To learn more about our mission and programs, please click here.

Where is the masquerade ball located?
The masquerade ball is located at the Raleigh Country Club on 400 Donald Ross Dr, Raleigh, NC 27610, near downtown Raleigh.

Where do we park? Is there a fee for parking?
There is one large parking lot covering the front of the building and it is free.

When does the ball begin/end?
Food will be served starting at 7pm and the evening will conclude with a DJ and dancing from approximately 9 to 11pm.

What is the dress code?
We encourage everyone to dig up those fancy dresses and tuxedos but black tie is optional. Masks are also optional but will be available for purchase. Mask prices range from $5-15.

What is the agenda for the evening?
We’ll begin with heavy hors d’oeuvres, chef stations, nonalcoholic beverages, and a cash bar, followed by a short presentation, a professional music performance, and then ending the night with a DJ, dancing, and dessert.

How much are tickets? Can I purchase at the door?
Tickets are currently $60 per person or you can save $20 by purchasing two tickets for $100. Tickets sales end on September 30th at 11:59pm. Due to venue policy, we cannot sell tickets at the door.

How do I purchase tickets? Will tickets be mailed to me or do I pick them up? What if I am purchasing for someone else?

Once we receive an email confirmation of your purchase, tickets will be mailed to you or you can simply check in at the table at the Raleigh Country Club on October 3rd. If you are purchasing for someone else, please be sure to put their name in the “memo” box when purchasing so that we can be sure to put their name on the list.

Happily Ever After: A Couture for a Cause Spring Showcase

Last fall, local designers rocked the runway at Couture for a Cause, with two designers taking home top prizes for their ready-to-wear and couture looks. See what last year’s winning designers — Tiffany Saini and Nicky Relyea — are doing now at Happily Ever After: A Couture for a Cause Spring Showcase on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Peachy Keen in Cary.

Happily Ever After gets underway at 5 p.m. at Peachy Keen, a designer clothing boutique in Cary, NC. Tickets are $15 online and include complimentary wine and hors d’oeuvres. Guests will get an exclusive look at new lines from local designers Tiffany Saini and Nicky Relyea, then participate in a special styling presentation with Peachy Keen’s creative director, Karly Hankin, exploring the inspiration behind the new lines.

Guests will shop a silent auction featuring items from local businesses. Guests can also shop Peachy Keen’s spring and summer styles, with 10% of sales benefiting Activate Good.

Happily Ever After: A Couture for a Cause Spring Showcase will raise funds to support Activate Good’s programs, including outreach to volunteers, days of service (such as the 9/11 Day of Service and National Family Volunteer Day), and the Activate Schools program, which teaches teens the value of volunteering and empowers them to become community leaders.
